THE OSCARS AND "PALESTINE"

I must tell you, I was enjoying the Oscars so much until some 3rd-worlder yelled out "Free Palestine". I have to ask - where the hell is Palestine?

I know there was once a Roman province called Palestine that the Romans renamed Israel to insult the Jews. So they named it after the Philistines, who by that time were long gone.

But of course, the Byzantine scumbags continued to use the name. So did the Ottoman Empire. So did the British Empire. And the non-Jews living in Israel? They never called themselves Palestinians. They called themselves Arabs - until the Soviet Union told Arafat to call themselves Palestinians.

But there has never been a country called Palestine. There has only been a geographic area that was called Palestine by the Romans. So when Palestine was under the authority of the British Empire, the ONLY Palestinians that existed were Jews.

When the British left Palestine, they advised the Jews to set up a country there, and the Arabs to set up a country there. Well, the Jews did set up a country there and called it Israel, and they were willing to share the Land with the Arabs even though they didn't have to.

But what did the Arabs do? They left, and they were hoping that Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq were going to send in armies and wipe out the Jews. But instead, all those Arab armies got wiped out, and then an area in the eastern part of the Land of Israel got taken over by Jordan, and they didn't call that area Palestine. They called it Jordan.

And the Arabs living in that area had no rights. The Jordanians did not allow them to have driver's licenses, to go to college, or to learn a trade. In 1967, the Israeli army kicked the Jordanians out.

And what happened to that land that Jordan had occupied for 19 years? It became a no-man's land. Nobody owned it, and just as Jordan had occupied that area, so now Israel occupies the area. But the area it occupies is a no man's land that the non-Jewish world loves to call Palestine.

So what? Free Palestine? There's nothing to free. I'm so tired of that blatantly antisemitic free Palestine bullshit that I say to you and anybody. If you want to "free Palestine", either do something about it or shut the fuck up.

And don't regale me on the night of the Academy Awards with that trash.
