SLEEPERS

This film is a brutally honest portrayal of 4 young boys from New York's Hell's Kitchen who were sent to a reform school in the 1960s for accidentally killing a man during a street prank. At the reform school, the boys are repeatedly sexually assaulted by 4 guards. Ten years later, as adults, two of the boys who have grown up to be local gang leaders find one of the guards in a neighborhood bar and they kill him. When the two are placed on trial for murder, their former two friends who had been incarcerated with them, one now a newspaper reported and the other a district attorney, attempt to help the defendants win the case.

The film stars Brad Pitt, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, and Kevin Bacon.

It was wonderful to see Vittorio Gassman in a strong supporting role.

The film is powerfull. Definitely worth seeing.

Running time is 152 minutes.
